〈House of Senses〉 is a project that explores how healthy communities and cities take shape through the relationship between the body and its environment. We began with the understanding that community is formed not only through relationships between people, but also through how we sense, understand, and respect our own bodies, the bodies of others, objects, nature, and the environments that surround us.

Through movement, drawing, and play with objects, older adults from Jongno and creative practitioners from various disciplines experienced their familiar bodies and surroundings anew. Observing one another’s movements, handling objects together, and perceiving the same place through different senses became ways of practising new relationships between themselves and the people and things around them.

Through 〈House of Senses〉, we explored whether these small shifts in perception and attitude could lay the groundwork for ways of caring for one another and living together, and, more broadly, for healthy communities and cities. The exhibition that followed offered a space to share and further develop the relationships, thoughts, and traces of movement that emerged throughout the process.
