Works and Practices are not separate kinds of work. They are two aspects of the same attitude, revealed across different spans of time. We distinguish between them because architecture does not end with the completion of construction. It becomes part of the urban ecology only when something begins to happen within a space, extending beyond physical form and entering the broader realm of architecture. There is a tension between the two. What is built does not always produce the relationships it was intended to create, and unexpected uses sometimes take their place. The act of Practice does not seek to erase this tension, but instead embraces the role of a participant rather than that of a third-party observer. It is an effort to place the time after construction at the center of our work as 'architecture'.
