“Between tangible physical space and invisible sonic space, we seek out and perform the sounds hidden in between.”

Resonant Spaces is a series that explores the boundary between physical space and sonic space. It began its first chapter in 2024 at Sasasaga in Jongno-gu, Seoul. By bringing attention to the spaces of “home” found throughout the city, the series reconfigures the time accumulated between people and spaces through music and performance.

The second stage takes place at Himujib(House of Strength) in Mapo-gu, Seoul. Inspired by the Zurkhaneh, an ancient Persian space that fostered a sense of community, the venue was reinterpreted for contemporary use by architect Lee Byungyeob(BYARCHITECTURE). Its two-story domed structure, central circular floor, and wooden columns come together to allow the space itself to function as a resonant body. Based on a score developed through an open-ended compositional method, the performance weaves together the breath, sounds, and movements of each performer, along with their relationships to the space, across five scenes. Each performer acts as both musician and creator, shaping the flow within each scene while jointly composing the structures of sound and space.
